Pattern for crocheting Dolly Unicorn by Hardicraft. Dolly is approximately 20 cm tall and is made with a 3.0 mm crochet hook.

  1. 1. Legs

    Ch 2 with lilac or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

    2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)

    3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

    4. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc in 1 sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

    5. 24 sc, crochet into the back loops only.
    6. 24 sc

    7. 7 sc, 3 x (sc 2 st together, 1 sc), 8 sc (= 21 sc)

    Continue with white. 

    8. 7 sc, 3 x (sc 2 st together), 8 sc (= 18 sc)

    9. - 14. 18 sc

    Fasten off. Make another leg, but don’t fasten off.

  2. 2. Body

    1. Hold the hind-legs against each other and make sure that the toes of both legs point in the same direction. Continue with white at the 1st leg: 1 sc in every sc, then continue crocheting at the 2nd leg: 1 sc in every sc. In total the round now has 36 sc.

    2. 2 sc in every 12th sc (= 39 sc)

    3. 2 sc in every 13th sc (= 42 sc)

    4. - 6. 42 sc

    Stuff the legs.

    7. Sc every 13th and 14th st together (= 39 sc)

    8. - 10. 39 sc

    11. Sc every 12th and 13th st together (= 36 sc)

    12. and 13. 36 sc

    14. Sc every 11th and 12th st together (= 33 sc)

    15. 33 sc

    16. Sc every 10th and 11th st together (= 30 sc)

    17. - 19. 30 sc

    20. Sc every 4th and 5th st together (= 24 sc)

    21. - 23. 24 sc

    24. 6 x (1 sc, sc 2 st together, 1 sc) (= 18 sc)

    Stuff the body.

    25. Sc every 2nd and 3rd st together (= 12 sc)

    26. 6 x (sc 2 st together) (= 6 sc)

    Fasten off. Pull the yarn through the 6 remaining st and pull tight. Weave in the end.

  3. 3. Arms

    Ch 2 with lilac or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

    2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)

    3. 12 sc, sc into the back loops only.

    4. and 5. 12 sc

    Continue with white.

    6.- 22. 12 sc

    Stuff only the lower part of the arm. Fold the work and sc the st together with 6 sc.

    Fasten off. 

    Make another arm and sew the arms onto the sides of the body, just below the head.

  4. 4. Head

    Start at the front of the snout.

    Ch 2 with lilac or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

    2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)

    3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

    4. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc in 1 sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

    5. 2 sc in every 4th sc (= 30 sc)

    6. - 8. 30 sc

    Continue with white.

    9. - 13. 30 sc

    14. 12 sc, 6 x (2 sc in 1 sc), 12 sc (= 36 sc)

    15. 12 sc, 6 x (2 sc in 1 sc, 1 sc), 12 sc (= 42 sc)

    16. - 25. 42 sc

    26. Sc every 6th and 7th sc together (= 36 sc)

    Attach the safety eyes between round 14 and 15 with 12 st between them. (The increasings of round 14 and 15 must be between the safety eyes).

    27. 6 x (2 sc, sc 2 st together, 2 sc) (= 30 sc)

    28. Sc every 4th and 5th sc together (= 24 sc)

    29. 6 x (1 sc, sc 2 st together, 1 sc) (= 18 sc) 

    Stuff the head.

    30. Sc every 2nd and 3rd sc together (= 12 sc)

    31. 6 x (sc 2 st together) (= 6 sc)

    Fasten off. Pull the yarn through the 6 remaining st and pull tight. Weave in the end. Embroider with white 2 nostrils over round 5 and 6 with 7 st between them.

    Sew the head onto the body and weave in the end.

  5. 5. Ears

    Ch 2 with white or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc) 

    2. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 9 sc)

    3. 9 sc

    4. 2 sc in every 3rd sc (= 12 sc)

    5. 12 sc

    6. 2 sc in every 4th sc (= 15 sc)

    Fold the ear and sc the st of the bottom together with 7 sc. Fasten off. Fold the bottom and secure it with a few st.

    Make another ear. Sew the ears onto the head between round 23 and 25, with 11 st between them.

  6. 6. Horn

    Ch 2 with lilac or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

    2. 6 sc

    3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 9 sc)

    4. 9 sc

    5. 2 sc in every 3rd sc, sc into the back loops only (= 12 sc)

    6 - 8. 12 sc

    End with 1 sl into the 1st sc of the round and fasten off. Stuff the horn lightly. Sew the horn on top of the head between round 18 and 21.

  7. 7. Little heart (see crochet chart)

    Ch 2 with lilac or start with a magic ring.

    1. Crochet into the 1st ch or into the magic ring: 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 3 sc, 1 hdc, 3 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, end with 1 sl and fasten off.

    Sew the heart right next to the middle between the arms onto the body.

  8. 8. Mane

    Cut off 30 lilac strands of approx. 25 cm. Attach the strands for the mane as follows: fold the strands in half and pull them with a needle through a stitch. Pull until you have created a loop of approx. 1 cm. Pull both yarn ends through the created loop and pull tight.

    Attach the strands each time in rows of 3 strands into the middle of the head, starting at round 17 and 18 just in front of the horn. Continue around the horn and end at the centre at the back of the head. Cut of the mane before the horn at approx. 2 cm. 

  9. 9. Tail

    Cut off 7 lilac strands of approx. 25 cm. Attach them in the same way as the mane between round 6 and 7 at the back of the body.
