Duckling

This cheerful duckling brings a smile to your face! Try yourself what it's like to make a Hardicraft kit with this free pattern. The duckling will be 6 cm high with a crochet hook of 2.5 mm.

Materials

1. Body

Ch 8 with yellow. The body is oval, you first crochet over the top of the chain and then continue along the bottom.

1. Skip 1 ch, crochet 6 sc, 3 sc in the following sc, 5 sc, 2 sc in the following sc, end with 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 16 sc)

2. 5 sc, 3 x (2 sc in every sc), 5 sc, 3 x (2 sc in every sc), end with 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 22 sc)

3. 5 sc, 3 x (1 sc, 2 sc in the following sc), 5 sc, 3 x (1 sc, 2 sc in the following sc), end with 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 28 sc)

4. - 7. 28 sc

8. 10 sc, 4 x (crochet 2 st together), 10 sc (= 24 sc)

Fold the edges and crochet them together with 9 sc (see the step-by-step photos). You will have an opening of 6 sc left. Here, continue crocheting in the round with yellow for the head. Stuff the body.
2. Head

1. 6 sc

2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)

3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

4. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc in 1 sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

5. - 8. 24 sc

9. Crochet every 7th and 8th st together (= 21 sc)

10. Crochet every 6th and 7th st together (= 18 sc)

Stuff the head.

11. Crochet every 2nd and 3rd st together (= 12 sc)

12. 6 x (crochet 2 st together) (= 6 sc)

Fasten off. Pull the yarn end through the remaining 6 st and pull tight. Weave in the end. Embroider the eyes with black at the level of round 6, leave 5 st between them.
3. Beak

Ch 3 with orange.

1. 2 sc from the 2nd ch from the needle.

Fasten off. Sew the beak between the eyes on the head.
4. Wings

Ch 2 with yellow or start with a magic ring.
1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)
2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)

3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

Fasten off. Fold the circle in half and sew the sides together. Crochet another wing and sew the wings on either side of the body.
