You start at the top part of the body. Cast on 16 st with brown.

2. 4 x (k1, kfb, k2) (= 20 st)

6. 4 x (k2, kfb, k2) (= 24 st)
7. - 13. st st
14. 8 x (k1, kfb, k1) (= 32 st)
15. - 27. st st
28. 4 x (k3, k2tog, k3) (= 28 st)
29. p28
30. Bind off 1 st k-wise, k12, bind off 2 st k-wise, k12, bind off 1 st k-wise. Fasten off.
2. Left leg
There are now two sets of 12 st on your needle, these will become the legs. Turn your work with the wrong side facing you. Reattach the brown yarn. You will now start knitting the front 12 st. This will be the left leg, leave the remaining 12 st on the needle.
1. - 21. st st, start with a p row.
22. 6 x (k2tog) (= 6 st)
Cut the yarn, leaving 20 cm to sew the leg closed later. Thread the yarn through the remaining 6 st and pull tight.
3. Right leg
There are now 12 st on your needle. Turn your work with the wrong side facing you. Reattach the brown yarn. This will be the right leg.
1. - 21. st st, start with a row p.
22. 6 x (k2tog) (= 6 st)
Cut the yarn, leaving 20 cm to sew the leg closed later. Thread the yarn through the remaining 6 st and pull tight.
4. Sewing together
Place your work with the right side facing down in front of you. Fold the sides towards the centre and sew the inside of the legs and the section between the legs closed. Now sew the seam on the back closed. Stuff the body.
5. Head
You start at the bottom of the head. Cast on 8 st with brown.
1. p8
2. 8 x kfb (= 16 st)
3. p16
4. 8 x (k1, kfb) (= 24 st)
5. p24
6. 8 x (k1, kfb, k1) (= 32 st)
7. p32
8. 8 x (k2, kfb, k1) (= 40 st)
9. - 11. st st
We will now continue with short rows. Knit only the mentioned st and leave the remaining st on your needle.
12. k23, YTk
13. p6, YTp
14. k7, YTk
15. p8, YTp
16. k9, YTk
17. p9, YTp
18. k9, YTk
19. p8, YTp
20. k7, YTk
21. p6, YTp
22. k21 until you reach the end of your row, from here you will knit normal rows again.
23. - 29. 40 st st (pm in row 25 between st 16 and 17 and between st 24 and st 25. This is where you will place the safety eyes later)
30. 8 x (k2, k2tog, k1) (= 32 st)

32. 8 x (k1, k2tog, k1) (= 24 st)

34. 8 x (k1, k2tog) (= 16 st)

36. 8 x (k2tog) (= 8 st)
Cut the yarn, pull it through the remaining 8 st on the needle and tighten.
Attach the safety eyes where you placed the stitch markers.
Sew the side seams together, this will be the back of the head. Stuff the head. Pull the yarn through the loops of row 1 and tighten. Sew the head onto the body. Weave in the ends.
Embroider a nose between the eyes with brown, see photo.
Cut 3 brown threads of about 10 cm. Fold the threads in half and pull them through 3 st on top of the head (row 36) with a crochet hook. Pull the ends through the loop that has formed and tighten. Cut the threads to about 1.5 cm from the head.
6. Arms (2x)
You start at the top of the arm. Cast on 8 st with brown.
1. - 26. st st, start with a k row.
Cut the yarn at 20 cm. Thread the yarn through the 8 st on the needle and pull tight. Sew the side of the arm closed. Fill the bottom with a little stuffing material and sew the top closed. Sew the arms to each side of the body, just below the head.
7. Ears (2x)
You start at the bottom of the ear. Cast on 14 st with brown.
1. - 4. st st, start with a k row.
5. 7 x (k2tog) (= 7 st)
Cut the yarn at 20 cm. Thread the yarn through the 7 st on the needle and pull tight. Sew the side seams together. Sew the ears to the side of the head.
8. Tail
Cast on 4 st with brown.
1. - 26. st st, start with a k row.
Thread the yarn through the 4 st on the needle and pull tight. Sew the side seams together. Sew the tail to the back of the body at the level of row 24.
9. Sweater
Cast on 24 st with yellow.
1. and 2. 12 x (k1, p1) (= 24 st)

4. k3, 2 x kfb, k2, 2 x kfb, k6, 2 x kfb, k2, 2 x kfb, k3 (= 32 st)
5. p32
6. k4, 2 x kfb, k4, 2 x kfb, k8, 2 x kfb, k4, 2 x kfb, k4 (= 40 st)
7. p40
8. k5, 2 x kfb, k6, 2 x kfb, k10, 2 x kfb, k6, 2 x kfb, k5 (= 48 st)
9. p48
10. k6, 2 x kfb, k8, 2 x kfb, k12, 2 x kfb, k8, 2 x kfb, k6 (= 56 st)
In the next row, place some st on a stitch holder (posh), these will be the sleeves (see photo).
11. p8, 12 posh, p16, 12 posh, p8 (there are now 32 st on your needle)
12. - 20. st st
21. and 22. 16 x (k1, p1) (= 32 st)
Bind off the st alternately k-wise and p-wise. Leave a long thread to sew the back of the sweater closed later.
10. Sleeves
Place the st from the stitch holder back onto your needle. Start with a p row.
1. - 24. st st
25. and 26. 6 x (k1, p1) (= 12 st)
Bind off the st alternately k-wise and p-wise. Leave a long thread to sew the seam of the sleeve closed. Knit the other sleeve in the same way. Sew the seams of the sleeves closed and the back seam closed (see photo). Put the sweater on the monkey.
