Tow Truck

Pattern for crocheting the tow truck from Hardicraft. The Tow Truck is approximately 10 cm high, 19 cm long and is made with a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

1. Base

Start at the bottom. The bottom is crocheted in rows. Ch 1 after each row and turn around.

Ch 16 with yellow.

1 - 40. 15 sc

Make a row of sc around your work as follows:

41. 39 sc along the side, 3 sc at the corner, 13 sc along the front, 3 sc at the corner, 39 sc along the side, 3 sc at the corner, 13 sc along the back, 3 sc at the corner (= 116 sc)

Continue in rounds.

42. 116 sc, into the back loops only.

43 - 47. 116 sc

48. 22 sc, ch 17, skip 56 sc, 1 sc into the 57th sc, 14 sc, ch 17, skip 30 sc, 1 sc into the 31st sc

From now on this is the beginning of the round (photo 1)

49. 14 sc, 17 sc into the ch, 15 sc, 17 sc into the ch, 1 sc (= 64 sc)

Continue with white.

50. 64 sc

51. Sc 2 st together, 41 sc, sc 2 st together, 19 sc (= 62 sc)

Continue with yellow.

Fasten off. Pull the yarn end through the 6 remaining st and pull tight. Weave in the end.
2. Hood

Attach with yellow into the 1st remaining loop of the 2nd ch of round 48 (at the front) (photo 2)

1. 17 sc along the loops.

2. Ch 1, turn around, 7 sc, sc 2 st together, 8 sc (= 16 sc)

3 - 7. Ch 1, turn around, 16 sc

Fasten off.

Sew the sides and the front of the hood together.
3. Back

Attach with yellow into the 1st remaining loop of the 1st ch of round 48. (foto 3)

1. 17 sc along the loops.

2. Ch 1, turn around, 7 sc, sc 2 st together, 8 sc (= 16 sc)

3 - 20. Ch 1, turn around, 16 sc

Fasten off.

Sew the sides and the back part together.

Stuff the tow truck while sewing it together.

Embroider with yellow 2 st along each corner of the white part to create windows.
4. Wheels

Ch 2 with grey or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)

Continue with black.

3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

4. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc in every sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

Fasten off.

Make another part, sc all rounds with black and don't fasten off.

Lay both parts on top of each other and sc the st together with 24 sl.

Fasten off.

Sc 3 more wheels and sew the wheels onto the side of the tow truck.
5. Beacon Light

Ch 2 with red or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 9 sc)

3. 9 sc

Continue with yellow.

4. 9 sc

End with 1 sl into the 1st sc and fasten off.

Stuff the flashing light and sew it onto the top part of the tow truck.
6. Headlights

Ch 2 with red or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 6 sl

Fasten off.

Sc another headlight and sew the headlights onto the front of the tow truck.
7. Taillights

Ch 4 with red.

1. 3 sc into the ch.

Fasten off.

Sc another tail light and sew the tail lights onto the back of the tow truck.
8. Tow

Ch 2 with grey or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 6 sc

3. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)

4 and 5. 12 sc

6. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

7 and 8. 18 sc

9. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc into the next sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

10 and 11. 24 sc

12. 2 sc in every 4th sc (= 30 sc)

13 and 14. 30 sc

15. 24 sc, leave the remaining 6 sc unworked.

Continue in rows, ch 1 before each row and turn around.

Stuff the hoist and sew it onto the tow truck.
9. Hook

Ch 2 with black or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2 - 15. 2 sc

16. Fold the work and sc the st together with 2 sc

17. Ch 1, turn around, 2 sc

Fasten off.

Fold the lower part together to create a hook and secure it with a few st.

Sew the hook onto the top part of the hoist.
